Once you are registered and logged in, you'll have immediate access to your VirtualSHARES Stock Trading Challenge portfolio page. This is where you can view your portfolio, place buy and sell orders, and keep track of your portfolio's progress in the competition.
Near the top of the page, you'll see links to your portfolio, private groups, site rankings and the quotes research page. This menu appears on every page after you've logged in, and allows you to quickly jump between the various sections of the site.
You'll also see a summary box on the top-right of your page. This contains all of your portfolio's vital details and will be displayed everywhere on the site while you are logged in.
Your portfolio is divided into three distinct sections and you can use the tabs across the top to jump between each of the features:
Current Portfolio - this is a listing of all of the stocks that are currently in your portfolio, including detailed information as to their present value. This is also where you will place SELL orders.
Open Orders - this is a listing of all orders that you've placed, which are yet to be executed. You may edit or cancel all open orders, as per the rules of trading.
Watch List - you can add and remove as many quotes as you like, and keep an eye on their performance throughout the competition. Your watch list also allows for quick access to BUY any stock that appears there.
You can sort your portfolio, open orders and watchlists by clicking on any of the headers.
Further down the page, you'll see a graph that provides you a day-by-day account as to how your complete portfolio is performing. You'll also see this listed just below the graph, by clicking on the Performance Summary tab. The Trading History tab will display a full account off ALL executed trades that you have made throughout the competition.
BUYING SHARES
There are a few ways to place BUY orders in the competition:
a) Using the 'buy shares' link listed next to each of your quotes on your watch list;
b) Using the "Find and Buy Shares" box on your portfolio page in the right column;
c) The comprehensive Quotes Research page (click on the "research" link in the main game menu), where you can search for stocks, or browse them by price, industry sector, category and much more.

A: Your portfolio is updated live at all times while the market is open, based onthe latest delayed data available in the game. All general site rankings are updated end-of-day, usually within a couple of hours of the market closing. |
